Volunteer
When you volunteer for Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County, you become part of a bigger picture. Right now, more than 1,000,000 people in the world and over 150 in Monroe County, are living in simple, decent affordable homes built by volunteers like you. It takes many people working together to create this housing.
Volunteers are needed in construction, helping prepare families for homeownership, connecting us with the church community and raising money to build more houses. Opportunities for volunteers are ready for a group or one individual.
Current Volunteer Opportunities:
National Women Build Week: May 3rd-8th
We will be rehabing a current Habitat house to make it handicap accessible for a new family.
May 25th- September 11th
Two new Handicap accessible Habitat homes will be built during this time. Volunteers are needed on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Meal Providers

Crew Leader
Description: This position focuses on hands on training, small crew oversight for quality, and safe practices for construction. Crew Leader reports to the House Leader.
Goals:
- To support and assist construction staff by instructing small crews of volunteers to accomplish the daily tasks on the build site.
- To facilitate an overall productive and fulfilling experience for Habitat Construction Volunteers.
Qualifications:
- Must have construction experience with rough carpentry, finish carpentry, or various phases of residential house construction.
- Must have good people skills and patience in being a teacher and facilitator.
- Must be flexible and willing to work in constantly changing conditions and willing to try new things.
- Must be safety conscious and good with people.
Time Commitment:
Minimum 1 day commitment during Blitz Build. Approximately 7AM-5PM
Responsibilities:
- To gather the appropriate supplies in the morning for the days tasks.
- To meet with House Lead/ Habitat staff before every work day.
- To ensure quality construction by using standard best practices, or conferring with supervisors.
- To be on time and committed to involving everyone who wishes to participate.
- Attending House Lead/Crew Lead meetings
House Leader
Description: This position oversees all the tasks of building the house to make sure things are being done correctly. House Leader reports to the Construction Supervisor. The focus of this position is leadership, not direct involvement.
Goals:
To oversee the construction of a job sight and keep volunteers active in a productive manner through delegation, to keep volunteers safe according to the task needs, and to adhere to the standards and mission of Habitat for Humanity.
Qualifications:
- Must have experience in various aspects and phases of residential home construction.
- Must be willing to work closely in partnership with staff and volunteers.
- Must have good people skills and patience in being a teacher and facilitator.
- Must be willing to make an arranged commitment to the project.
Time Commitment: Minimum 5 days of Blitz Build. Up to all 10 Days of Blitz Build.
Responsibilities:
- To oversee the daily construction activities.
- To observe safe building practices by volunteers on job sites.
- To be responsible for updating the Construction Director on current build issues
- To be responsible for delegation of daily construction and construction support tasks.
- Oversee the Crew Leaders and the productivity of there crews.
