Committees
Without the following committees Habitat Monroe would not have the “man-power” to do what we do every day. Join a Committee and make a difference off the construction site.
Family Selection Committee
Organizes and carries out application, interview, and selection process. We find families who fit the criteria of need for shelter, ability to make no-interest loan payments, and ability to partner with Habitat for Humanity. This committee requires approximately a month commitment once or twice a year to carry out the application process. For more information contact Debora at (734)243-2048 ext. 113 or e-mail.
Home Sweet Homes
The committee works together to plan, coordinate and carry out Habitat Monroe's Annual Homes Sweet Homes fundraising event, which is held the first Thursday of December. The committee meets every second Thursday of each month throughtout the year, until closer to the event additional "working" meetings will be scheduled, as necessary. For more information contact Kristin at (734)243-2048 or e-mail.
Family Partner
Works with families through sweat equity, home ownership education, home purchase process, adjustment to new responsibilities and continued partnership with the organization. Each family partner is assigned a family to help through the whole process. For more information contact Carol at (734)243-2048 ext. 103 or e-mail.
Building On Faith Committee
Meetings: Second Thursday of each month, 8:30PM at Panera Bread in Monroe. Contact: Kristin 734-243-2048 or email. The involvement of local churches has created partnerships with people who fully understand our vision. It is not just building a house, it is building relationships. It is no longer a work-site, but a mission field. It is not just a place where good things are done; it is a place where eternal things happen. It is not just a place where people learn to build a wall, hang a door, or side a house, it is a place where people can love through action, honor God by serving others, and experience transformed lives.
This committee meets monthly to develop a plan to raise $10,000 and recruit 200 volunteers for our Summer 2011 Thrivent/Building on Faith homes. Through the work of the committee we will be able to engage churches and help the body of believers respond to God’s call to “be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share” ( 1 Timothy 6:17-19).
