Homeownership has always been the American Dream for many, 75% of Americans say it’s a priority. For family after family, homeownership has provided not just a roof over their heads but also a sense of pride and accomplishment.  In fact, according to housing statistics, 58% of homeowners say they feel a sense of accomplishment and pride after buying their home.

Habitat For Humanity of Monroe County has a Homeownership Program that will help you achieve your dream of homeownership.   

Did you know that Habitat For Humanity has housed over 100 homeowners and families in Monroe County?  That’s over 100 adults and 200 children in Monroe County who now own safe, affordable homes.

Habitat For Humanity is open to anyone seeking homeownership. Many people think Habitat For Humanity is a charity or  that Habitat gives houses away. The truth is that Habitat For Humanity of Monroe County sells homes to qualified Family Partners in our Homeownership Program. Every Family Partner has a mortgage with a qualified lender and makes monthly mortgage payments. Anyone interested in homeownership must complete an application for the program and must meet certain requirements to be approved for the program.

One of the best ways to begin your homeownership journey is to take the Homebuyer Education Class, offered by Habitat Monroe’s financial coach. This class will teach you about  the homebuying process and will provide you with the tools you need to pursue your American Dream of homeownership.

Habitat For Humanity of Monroe County offers the Homebuyer Education Class every other month and is open to anyone interested in homeownership.  This class is taught by Habitat’s own certified housing counselor and is full of valuable information and material on home buying and homeownership. Once you complete the class you can also schedule an appointment to receive one-on-one, pre-purchase counseling to continue your journey towards homeownership.
