With each new home dedication at Habitat Monroe, we are constantly thankful for the outpour of community support that we receive. We are reminded that we are truly not alone in this mission to provide decent, affordable housing for all. Most importantly, our homeowners realize they have a network of support in their own county.
Habitat Monroe’s most recent homeowner, Taylor, was shown such support last month when Exciting Windows by Couture by Karen threw her a housewarming shower.
On Monday, Oct. 29, Taylor’s friends and family gathered alongside the staff of Couture by Karen, and other guests from the community, to celebrate Taylor’s new homeownership.
The local business, conveniently located next door to Habitat Monroe’s office, reached out to the affiliate with the idea of a shower as a way of bringing attention to both Habitat and Exciting Windows. Taylor closed on her Habitat home in October and with a young daughter and a new home, she was the perfect candidate for the shower.
The shower guests purchased gifts for Taylor off of a “wish list” she provided of items she did not yet have for her home. The Exciting Windows staff generously gifted a set of their blinds to Taylor for her new home.
In attendance to represent Habitat was Julie Walsh-Destrampe, the director of homeownership, Mary Louise Allen, WLI member, and frequent volunteer, and financial coach Jeanette McDonald.
“It’s nice to see a local business get involved with our family,” Jeanette said, “we’re so happy for Taylor and her little girl.”
Exciting Windows by Couture by Karen offers personal window stylings including blinds, draperies, shadings, and shutters. They can be found on Facebook or at their website customdraperyandblinds.com.
